M-Sport is a race shop in England that helped Ford Performance develop the Focus RS RX for World Rallycross. For the past year, M-Sport has been working with Ford Perfomance again, this time to develop the next-generation Fiesta RS for World Rally Championship competition.
To conform to new FIA regulations, M-Sport had to start with a clean sheet design. The car is wider, 22 pounds lighter, and it produces 380 horsepower, 60 more than the last car, thanks to a new 36 mm restrictor plate. A new center differential improves handling. M-Sport also has greater freedom to adjust the aerodynamics.
“This is only the first prototype but the speed really is incredible,” said M-Sport chief Malcolm Wilson. “We’re still fine-tuning the aero-package with our colleagues at Ford, but we have been able to run all of the mechanical components on the current bodyshell and the first tests have only strengthened my confidence in our ability to produce a winning car.”

M-Sport began testing the car in July. A YouTube user Anthony Bailet caught the Fiesta RS running in the Italian Alps near the Col d’Agnel mountain pass, and CarScoops ran the video. Now we have it here. According to the video title, Welsh rally driver Elfyn Evans was behind the wheel.
