The Hellcat-powered Ram 1500 lives

One Ram owner has given up on waiting for Fiat Chrysler Automobiles [NYSE:FCAU] to offer the supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 known as the Hellcat in a pickup truck, so he went out and had Master Technician Kevin Byrnes of Midland Chrysler in Midland Ontario, Canada build him one.

Several photos of this Hellcat-powered Ram 1500 were posted on the enthusiast site SRT:Life, including one with the truck’s hood raised. The photos also reveal that the owner has stuck a handful of Hellcat logos on the truck’s body to advertise the heat it’s packing.

The Hellcat looks relatively small in the cavernous engine bay of the 1500 but there’s nothing small about the performance on offer. The engine delivers 707 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque, and assuming most of that power can reach the ground this could be one of the quickest pickups on the planet.

FCA currently offers the Hellcat in the Dodge Charger and Challenger muscle cars, but the automaker will soon offer in the Jeep Grand Cherokee as well. A prototype for the Hellcat-powered Jeep has already been spotted. The vehicle, which may be called a Trackhawk, is due out late next year as a 2018 model.

Unfortunately for Ram fans, we haven’t heard about a Hellcat-powered pickup coming from the factory.
