Everything your physics teacher ever taught you about the way a car can move on pavement should be thrown out the window thanks to Vaughn Gittin, Jr. and his latest, 900-horsepower (it could be more) Ford Mustang RTR.
The drift master’s Mustang RTR is so new that Ford Performance hasn’t even figured out how much horsepower it actually makes.
Gittin, Jr.’s highly modified drift machine has been pared back to just 2,800 pounds, or around 900 pounds lighter than a stock Mustang GT you can buy from your local dealer, which makes its 900-plus horsepower all the more entertaining. RTR carbon fiber body panels and a Driveshaft Shop carbon fiber driveshaft help shave some of that weight.
Yeah, you can buy a 725-horsepower version of the Mustang RTR, but the one you really want is this monster. Replete with appropriate Monster Energy graphics and bright green touches, the Mustang RTR drift car is about as cool as they get.
Gittin, Jr. is taking the new ‘Stang to the drift championship this weekend at the Streets of Long Beach, so we anticipate more than a few Nitto NT05 tires will be killed (just like last year’s tire shredder).
