There have been rumors for years of an extra spicy “RS” version of the Porsche Cayman GT4, and now one of the automaker’s dealerships may have just confirmed it.

Porsche Centre Brisbane recently posted a photo of a Cayman GT4 on its Instagram page along with the message that a “GT4 RS” was coming and that it would feature a 4.0-liter flat-6.

The post has been removed but not before CarAdvice was able to snap a screenshot. When prompted by the Australian website for comment a Porsche spokesperson denied the possibility of a Cayman GT4 RS.

Of course, it’s not unusual for an automaker to deny the possibility of a planned car to maximize interest at the debut while also preventing potential buyers from holding off in the meantime. Evidence pointing to a Cayman GT4 RS being developed are comments made by Porsche engineer Andreas Preuninger two years ago that such a car was possible.

The Cayman GT4, unveiled in 2015, features a 3.8-liter flat-6 good for 385 horsepower. The only transmission is a 6-speed manual, and drive is to the rear wheels only. The claimed 0-60 mph time is 4.2 seconds while the top speed is said to be 183 mph.

It’s not clear what Porsche would add to any Cayman GT4 RS beyond the 4.0-liter engine. However, the Cayman GT4 Clubsport race car, also unveiled in 2015, hints at what’s possible. It features a dual-clutch transmission, some weight-saving mods, the suspension from the 911 GT3 Cup racer, and uprated wheels, tires and brakes.
