If a buyer wants a Rolls-Royce swathed in bubble gum pink leather inside, the company will do just that. For a price, of course.
Rolls-Royce prides itself on catering to just about any wish its buyers have for personalizing their mega-buck luxury cars.
The automaker’s London showroom, its flagship (though buyers in Dubai, Hollywood, and Hong Kong might disagree these days), has released some details about some of the more unusual requests it has had from customers over the years.
The showroom has been in Berkeley Square in Mayfair, West London, since 1927, and over its nearly 90-year history, it has seen its share of eccentric, well-heeled buyers.
Here’s a rundown of what Rolls-Royce Motor Cars London says are some of the more memorable moments from its recent history:
- An unspecified customer will take delivery of not one, but three new Rolls-Royce Dawns at the same time this summer. That’s at least $ 1 million worth of Dawns, though perhaps the buyer requested a bulk discount. Probably not.
- As we alluded to before, one buyer wanted a pink interior…but not just any pink, a pink that matched a t-shirt he brought into the showroom. For the record, he selected a red exterior shade. Money, it seems, does not buy taste.
- The youngest buyer to walk into Rolls-Royce Motor Cars London and sign on the dotted line was just 21 years old. The buyer didn’t just take home a bog-standard model, he or she bought the one-off “Inspired by Film” Wraith.
- A Taiwanese buyer set the record for the youngest to ever order a Rolls-Royce from the automaker. At just 12, he bought his first Phantom. The company hasn’t specified if he could reach the pedals.
